Ancillary Insurance Information
The Basics of Ancillary Insurance
The term “Ancillary Insurance” usually refers to a group of benefits that are used to supplement the Major Medical Health Insurance plan. PDR Insurance represents some of the nation’s largest insurance carriers to offer a robust benefits package for our clients. Some of the Ancillary Products we offer include:
- Short Term Disability
- Long Term Disability
- Gap Coverage
- Critical Illness
Why is Ancillary Insurance Important?
While a Major Medical Health Insurance plan is considered to be a huge benefit to employees, these plans typically don’t have coverage for Dental, Vision, Life or Disability. Ancillary products can be a cost effective way to fill some of the gaps in the Major Medical plan. Employers can easily add an entire suite of Ancillary Insurance products to their major medical plan and increase the overall health and peace of mind of their employees.
What to Discuss With Your Agent
Before buying a Dental Insurance Policy, be prepared to discuss the following with your agent:
- The type of Major Medical plan that exists.
- Do you want to offer Ancillary products on a Contributory or Voluntary Basis?
- What is the budget for Ancillary products?
- Can the premiums for these products be payroll deducted pre-tax?
